This is my dog peewee. He is half-pug and half-chihuaha, or how I say, a chug. Two years ago I got peewee off of Craigslist when he was just two years old. I wasn't looking for a dog at the time, He was just a cute pup that my sister found on craigslist one day and showed him to me. Once I saw him I just wanted him. As I saw his little face and big bug-like eyes, it made me fall in love with him even more. I thought he was kind of cute and funny looking.
Peewee’s previous owner was looking into re-homing Peewee at the time because he just unfortunately couldn’t find the time to fit in taking care of a dog. Peewee was always in a kennel all day long while his previous owner would be out for either school or work. This is part of why he is reactive even now just a bit. He wasn’t used to meeting other animals or people. The funny thing is that I did not know this prior to meeting him first. So, when I first met up with peewee and his previous owner at a local park he was very scared and anxious so, when I went to reach for him he kind of snapped a bit and actually tried to bite me. Shortly after I began to become very skeptical about whether peewee would come around. As I let him just sniff me and get used to me being near him for a couple more minutes, he began jumping on me for me to carry him. I then began to play with him and touch him more so he could know I wasn’t any harm to him. We played for about 15 minutes at the local park. Peewee was so happy his tail was wagging and he kept jumping on me. That same day I actually took peewee home with me. I will always remember the way peewee and I met specifically, because he tried to bite me. However that day I made the best spontaneous decision I’ve ever made.
Since that day peewee and I have always been inseparable. He truly has a huge attachment to me. I spend the majority of my time with peewee. I love how he’s very protective of me and once you get to know him, his personality can be very silly. He’s the sweetest, silliest and, angeriest little monster you’ll ever meet. Since he’s been with me he’s learned a lot. He’s extremely friendly and familiar with my family and my family’s dogs. It took a few tries but now, I think he knows my family is safe. Peewee has come a very long way from being extremely angry and reactive to now being able to control himself and allow for new connections. Now he's turning five, and every single day with him just reminds me how grateful I am that I found him. He is truly my best friend, we just get each other, I can’t imagine life without him.
